Example Memo
From LoveToKnow Business
Checking out an example memo will help you when it's time to write one of your own. Looking over the format and the way this means of communication is set up is a good strategy if you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own.
Purpose of a Sending a Memo
A memo is used for communicating with people in the same organization. It is a more informal means of communication than a business letter. A memo is usually used to communicate a short message of up to one page in length.
Example Memo: What to Look At
When you are looking at the example memo, make a mental note of the way it's set up. The top of the memo is where it clearly sets out who the communication is to an which person or department is sending it out.
The introductory sentence explains to the reader what the memo is about. It is followed by content that expands upon the main idea. Finally, the example memo will tell the reader what action the writer wants them to take next.
Do they need a reply or an answer to a question? The memo may be asking the reader to confirm some information. If that is the case, then it's a good idea to include a date when the writer would like to receive the reply.
