If you want to use your Microsoft Office software to create your resume, but want the finished product to be more creative than it will be if you use one of the built-in templates that comes with your software, it's a good idea to check out the resume and CV templates on Microsoft’s web site. You’ll find many different sample resume templates that can be used to create a document that truly reflects your skills and personality.
There are three categories of resume and CV templates on Microsoft.com, including:
Within each category, you can choose to sort the view of available templates by:
- Number of downloads – You can choose to view templates sorted in order order by how many times they have been downloaded. Those that have been download the most are likely to have been on the web site the longest, and a good number of users found them attractive and appealing enough to download.
- Rating – This option allows you to arrange the templates in the order of how highly other people have rated them. You may want to choose a highly rated template, because you know other people have found it attractive. However, a template with a lower rating might work just as well. It might be a more recent addition to the template gallery, which means that it might not have been viewed by a lot of people yet. This can work to your advantage if you’re looking to create a document that is unique in appearance.
- Name – The name sort option can be very handy, particularly if you have already visited the site and remember the name of one or more templates you found to your liking. When you sort by name, you’ll be able to quickly navigate through the templates to get to the one you want, because they’ll be displayed in alphabetical order.
- Date – Viewing the available templates by date can be beneficial, especially if you visit the site often looking for new resume designs and styles. The date option allows you to easily glance through the templates that have been added since your last visit to the site. You’ll save time because you won’t have to view examples that you’ve previously viewed in the past.
