I was doing some research for a friend, and found this to be a very informative article. I agree that most "Free" sites aren't really free. However, the sample agreement at Find Law for Small Business is free and surprisingly thorough. In my opinion, it can be invaluable to help business partners have a detailed agreement from the beginning of their association. This could actually help to keep partners out of court. Thanks for your help!

Hi Patrick,

I'd ask the bank specifically what more you need. It may be related to state regulations. Each state (with the exception of Louisiana) has its own laws governing partnerships, contained in what's usually called "The Uniform Partnership Act" or "The Revised Uniform Partnership Act". You can check out your state's laws at Nolo's State Laws.

My brother and I have been partners in our business since 1985. We want to move our business account from one bank to another. They say we have to have a "Partnership Agreement" on file with the state.

We have our federal and state tax numbers but that is not good enough for the bank. Can you please help us? We are told that 9/11 is the problem for us.

We sent our $100.00 fee along with the form we got off line and they are still not satisfied!

Any help you can give us is appreciated.
