Your salary history should be written as a separate do...ent. The paper, style, and typeface should match those of your resume and cover letter.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladA company I am applying for is asking for a resume and a salary history. Would the salary history be on the resume itself or on a separate piece of paper? Either way, I can't find a decent way of formatting it to looking professional. Help?!

Because of the individualized nature of a resume, fill-in-blank forms do not lend to writing an effective resume because they would work more like a job application offering facts but not allowing for the creativity to make the resume stand out.

For an effective resume objective be specific. Something like: "pediatric or geriatric nursing position in a large or small hospital" is generic and will help you stand out among the other applicants. Choose wording that shows your commitment to a particular area. For example: "Pediatric nursing position at a university-affiliated hospital." Try to make your objective more detailed while avoiding generalities like "Seek challenging and responsible position". Phrases like this have become overused and don't really relay any specific information about what you have to offer specifically.

I'm not sure what you want to know, but if your asking what resume format to use it will depend on you. The three main types are:
- Chronological - (most popular)Displays information in reverse chronological order. It highlights a candidateâs steady, upward career growth. The focus is on time, job continuity, growth, and achievements.
- Functional - Focuses on skills, credentials, and accomplishments. Emphasis is on what you did, not when or where. Accomplishments, qualifications and experience are grouped to emphasize experience in specialty areas.
- Combination - Uses a career profile which lists relevant skills and accomplishments, which are followed by a description of employment and education histories listed in reverse chronological order.

We do not write resumes here at LoveToKnow Business, but instead we offer our readers the tools to write an effective resume. In your objective statement, clearly and briefly state the position you are applying for along with your qualifications. It should be no longer than 1-3 lines of text. Once you develop your objective, structure the rest of your resume around that objective.
