Hi Bummie,

A letter of reference usually accompanies a comprehensive application. These are most often written by the principal or a teacher.

Hi Suzan,

A letter of recommendation for an internship usually comes from an academic or a professional reference. If you're writing a letter for someone who has served as an intern, see the first sample in this article labeled "For a New Graduate". It should provide the framework you need to put together a letter of recommendation. Let me know if you have further questions.

You've done well applying the information in this article to a sample letter of recommendation regarding character. Thanks for sharing it with us.

To Whom It May Concern,I have been a close friend and prior co-worker with (fill in name) for more than four years. He is a loyal, positive individual. He's also the go-to guy in our office; people continually turn to him for extra help both personally and professionally. His strong work ethic has helped him achieve a number of successes in his career, but he still makes time to take his grandmother to dinner every Sunday, saying she’s the reason he remembers, "where he came from." That's a quality I’ve always admired. I trust him impeccably because frankly, he’s never let me down. And we laugh together. A lot!

For all these reasons, I would highly recommend Alonzo for the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program. Please call me if you need more information. Sincerely,

Hi Yogesh,

The focus of your letter of recommendation is clarified in the last section of this article. The key points that must be covered in your letter of recommendation include:

  • Clarify the writer/applicant relationship.
  • Detail positive accomplishments, contributions and abilities.
  • Be complimentary, but not overtly.

Here are a couple more articles to help you:

Hello,

The work done is good, but need more aspects to be covered and more explored which might cater the needs of people.

Hi Rene,

No, a letter of recommendation is written by someone who knows you. However, you can write a letter of introduction if you want to introduce yourself as a perspective candidate.
