Hi Marieta,

Much of what is included in a teacher's resume is standard:

  • Name - Chose a font 3-4 sizes bigger than the rest of the print on the page for your name.
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Email address.

After your contact info, you'll want to list your certification along with any endorsements. This should be followed by your teaching experience and then the last section can include related experience. In this section you can highlight paid or unpaid work which equips you to be a better teacher.

Following the above sample will give the guidance you need in putting together your resume. To help your resume stand out among the others in the field of education, try to put together a resume that reflects who you are, rather than merely sounding like you've copied a standard teacher job description. To do this, include:

  • Your responsibilities
  • Major achievements (which show your key strengths and motivations)

These major achievements can include things like:

  • Turning around a difficult classroom situation
  • Helping under-performing students achieve full potential
  • Used strong planning and organizational skills to introduce creativity and resourcefulness.

Use highlights to focus on innovative teaching methods you've introduced and how they helped students.
